How practising gratitude has changed my life

It is so easy to focus on the negatives in our life/in the world. I have found that by making a conscious decision to be grateful for the wonderful things I have instead of focusing on what I don’t have, I have genuinely become happier. I’m not saying all my problems have been solved – but this simple mindset change has made so much difference. Here are 3 things I am currently grateful for:

The people in my life

One of the main things I am grateful for is the people surrounding me. I have a big, supportive family who I am close to. I have a wonderful boyfriend. I have incredible friends who I know I can trust. I work with great people who I can have a laugh with.

I think when you realise that it isn’t about the quantity of friends you have, but the quality, you instantly feel better. It’s better to have 1 real friend than 100 fake friends. When I’m with my friends I instantly feel happy.

My physical health

My physical health is something I have really started to be thankful for recently, particularly due to the Coronavirus pandemic. I’m grateful that I have a strong immune system and that I am able to exercise freely. I’m also grateful for my friends and families good health. When my nan was sadly diagnosed with cancer unexpectedly and later passed away, it was a strong reminder that if we are healthy we are so lucky.

The basic necessities

I have certainly taken the basic necessities for granted before. Things such as clothes, a roof over my head, food on the table can easily be taken for granted when it’s all you know. I’m grateful for these things because I know that unfortunately not everyone has the privilege of having these things.

I challenge you to come up with 3 things in your life you are grateful for and comment 1 down below!

See you next week.
