Life Lately #3 – where I’ve been

Hey everyone.
I’ve had a bit of a blogging break recently for a number of reasons which I will get into in this post. I thought it was time to do another ‘life lately’ post, as the last one I did was last July! How has time gone so fast?

In the UK we are now in our third official lockdown, and for me it has been the toughest one yet. Don’t get me wrong, I love a bit of me time, but this is a bit too much. I’m not trying to say I’ve had it the worst – I know I’m so lucky for myself and my family to be healthy, but that’s not to say I’m not allowed to struggle. We all have battles that others don’t know about. However, Boris has recently revealed his roadmap for leaving lockdown which has given me so much hope, and it’s also now officially spring!

Where I’ve been

It’s been a while since I’ve properly sat down and written a post. I’ve done a few bits here and there, but I’ve found it hard to get in the flow of writing again. I feel like although I’ve had a lot of ideas for my blog for this year, I’ve had a huge mental block simultaneously that I haven’t been able to move past. When we went into the second lockdown last November I put my heart and soul into my blog – I was writing every single day and I loved it. I loved having a focus.

Then I returned to work in December for a chaotic and intense month, which I expected. All of it felt like a waste of time though when we went back into lockdown after Christmas, and suddenly my passion for blogging had dwindled. I just couldn’t put my finger on why, but after having time to reflect I’ve realised why.

I simply burnt myself out in every way possible. My passion for blogging was so high last year that I was treating it like a job, and I reaped the rewards. That was all great until my hobby started feeling like a job, in such a way that I got caught up in how well it was doing and the statistics. So I stopped doing it for fun, and started focusing too hard on the marketing side. I now know that I need to blog again for what I started it for – my love for writing, photography, connecting with my audience. So that is my blogging plan for this year – take it easy and not put too much pressure on myself.

What have I been up to recently?

Lockdown has given me the opportunity to do things I probably wouldn’t have got round to doing in ‘normal’ life. I’ve changed my entire room around and I have to say it looks great.

I’ve been going on so many walks, which have been my main form of entertainment and exercise. My friend has recently got a puppy who we’ve been walking called Bentley. The amount of joy that dog brings me is insane!

I’ve fallen in love with reading again and I hope it continues. I’ve got so many books I want to read, and my first book review of the year will be going up very soon!

I’ve also been watching a lot of TV/YouTube. Celebs Go Dating: The Mansion has me hooked. I’ve also spent way too much time on TikTok which is a habit I should probably break soon.

I’ve also recently got a part time job which I’m so happy about! Being on furlough is great and I’m very grateful, but I like having something to keep me busy and to give me a routine. It’s also nice to have a bit of normality!

I apologise if this post has been quite ramble-y – it’s felt so good to post just because I want to and not because I feel I need to. I’ve really missed this blogging community and I can’t wait to create more content this year.

How are you all? What have you been up to recently?

See you soon.
